During October, you can receive a complimentary posture screening, gait or foot analysis, a demostration of kinesio taping, and/or consultation.

The month of October has been declared as the "National Chiropractic Month". It was established to raise public awareness of the what chiropractic is and the benefits of chiropractic. This month was consolidated with two other awareness months: Spinal Health Month and Posture Awareness Month.

As a whole, Chiropractic has become a mainstream in alternative and traditional healthcare. Here are few interesting facts relating to Chiropractic:

-- Chiropractic is the largest, most regulated, and best recognized of the
complementary and alternative medicine professions. -- American
Chiropractic Association
-- The federal government provides chiropractic benefits for veterans,
military personnel and Medicare patients. -- American Chiropractic
Association
-- A major four-year study in the United States, published in the American
Medical Association journal, The Archives of Internal Medicine,
concluded that medical benefit plan members with chiropractic coverage
returned to work faster, had lower claim costs and experienced fewer
interventions such as MRIs compared to plan members without
chiropractic benefits.

I would like to share with you the how, what, when, where of CHIROPRACTIC. It is a scientific fact that your brain, spinal cord and the rest of your nerves control every aspect of your body. Hindering the nerve "connections" between your brain and your body through injuries, accidents, stress, diet related issues could lead to ill health. A common source of interference comes from the moving bones that encase the "information superhighway" of your spinal cord. This source is called the verterbral subluxation.

This nerve pressure can cause numbness, weakness, or the under-performance of organs and tissues. Or, spinal misalignments (subluxations) can cause nerve tissue to stretch, chafe, or become irritated. This can distort nerve messages between your body and your brain. The result? Hyperactive organ function, blood pressure, or even pain.

The focus of CHIROPRACTIC is on the integrity of your nervous system. A thorough examination helps locate areas of nervous system compromise. The moving bones of the spine are common culprits. Specific chiropractic adjustments help reduce these subluxations or interferences. The intent is to restore your body's ability to regulate and heal itself.

Chiropractic care is simple. It is natural. It honors the wisdom of your body. And it has helped millions enjoy relief and better health for more than a century.

Call today for your Chiropractic evaluation!!! If you want to discuss your health related situation first, we can schedule a consultation to see if you would be a chiropractic candidate.

Blessings and Health to You,

Six things to lower risk of BP

The US Dept of Health and Human Services are realizing that health conditions can be resolved with other approaches along with mainstream medicine. In a recent article, women had six things that could help lower their risk of high blood pressure. Those things are as follows:

1) keep a normal weight
2) exercising an average of 30 minutes a day
3) eating a healthy diet
4) drink alcohol in moderation
5) avoid OTC pain relieves
*6) taking 400 micrograms (not milligrams) or more of supplemental folic acid

Supplementation is becoming more acceptable in traditional medicine. The study to use folic acid, as recommended by the HHS, is in the Journal of American Medical Association and supported by the National Institutes of Health. This article can be found at www.hhs.gov/news/healthbeat/2009/08/20090827a.html.

I suggest that you are advised by a healthcare provider, Doctor of Chiropractic or Medical Physician, as you begin to take various forms of supplementation due to harmful interactions with other prescribed medications or herbal supplements.

It is my opinion that we will see more and more of "alternative" healthcare being used with traditional medicine as we see changes with our healthcare system.

Health and Wellness to You,

The Vertebral Dissection and Chiropractic

I was able to attend a one hour luncheon seminar on "The vertebral dissection and Chiropractic Manipulation". Basically, a patient having a stroke after a chiropractic adjustment.

The conclusion was very interesting. The ER MD had concluded that the manipulation could not be proven to have caused the stroke! The MD had done a great job researching the causative factors of the stroke. One paper stated that a patient is just as likely to have a stroke in a Chiropractors office as they would in a Medical Physicians office.

So, I had asked, "If a patient had presented with a headache and neck pain into a Medical office, how would they have been examined?" One physician stated with a chuckle, "We would have sent them for a CT with contrast, of course."

These type of incidences allow us to learn and grow from our experiences. Unfortunately, it had happened to a human being for us to be able to learn. But, fortunately, the patient has recovered well from my understanding!!
