The Vertebral Dissection and Chiropractic

I was able to attend a one hour luncheon seminar on "The vertebral dissection and Chiropractic Manipulation". Basically, a patient having a stroke after a chiropractic adjustment.

The conclusion was very interesting. The ER MD had concluded that the manipulation could not be proven to have caused the stroke! The MD had done a great job researching the causative factors of the stroke. One paper stated that a patient is just as likely to have a stroke in a Chiropractors office as they would in a Medical Physicians office.

So, I had asked, "If a patient had presented with a headache and neck pain into a Medical office, how would they have been examined?" One physician stated with a chuckle, "We would have sent them for a CT with contrast, of course."

These type of incidences allow us to learn and grow from our experiences. Unfortunately, it had happened to a human being for us to be able to learn. But, fortunately, the patient has recovered well from my understanding!!
